The Warfighter Support Security Engineer enables NGA/TAW (Warfighter Support Office) to provide cutting edge technology and engineering solutions to ensure timely access, discovery, and retrieval of GEOINT by warfighters and IC partners. They enable rapid acquisition and employment of commercially available open source technologies to scale & extend distributed interoperable GEOINT capabilities & services. The Security Engineer works closely with customers to evaluate security risk to ensure compliance with IC policies & standards, & produce deliverables documenting planning, policy, architecture, interfaces of technical security services. They implement mission-driven prioritized requirements following lean agile processes.

Deliverables (generated IAW NGA best practices and lean agile methods tailored per government direction) include: project plans/schedules, user needs assessment, architecture integration and interoperability analysis, CONOPS, requirements and products engineering, test and TTO plans/procedures/reports, System Assessment & Authorizations, and readiness and opportunities/risks/issues management. The Security Engineer must have a working knowledge of NSG architecture, initiatives, segments, programs of record, systems, interfaces, NTO test engineering, GEOINT production life cycle and mission use cases, IC and DoD security policy, procedures & application. They must have a solid understanding of Combatant Command, Service Component Command, and Combined/Joint Task Force structures, their garrison and expeditionary ops, and how NGA capabilities support them. They need a working understanding of NGA organizations and how they work together to provide GEOINT support as an Intelligence and Combat Support Agency. They will be a key contributor enabling NGAs innovative all source capabilities engineering and technology insertion process, from mission needs identification through rapid solutions implementation.

Warfighter Support Security Engineer roles and responsibilities include:

  • Requests for Change (RFCs)/Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) assessments, impacts, inputs
  • Validation of interface operability and satisfaction of integrated inter-system requirements
  • Project Status and Technical Review artifacts
  • Mission Partner and Stakeholder Integration across organizations, programs, and projects


Required Qualifications:

  • Top Secret/SCI (Active SCI within 2 years; SSBI current within 5 years)
  • STEM BS(Science, CompSci, CyberSecurity/Tech/Engineering/Math or related scientific/technical discipline)
  • 15+ years experience in related field, with 10 years recent agency (NGA, IC/DoD GEOINT) experience
  • Strong SE&I skills/exp. applying processes & project SW/HW solutions engineering, e.g. systems enterprise planning, requirements def/analysis, implementation, integration, test, readiness, deployment, transition, O&S
  • Demonstrated experience with security engineering policies and procedures supporting ICD 503 Accreditation and NIST 800-53, CNSS 1253 implementation, Authorizations and Assessments
  • Technical project leadership planning/scheduling/execution/analysis/status expertise and experience
  • Comprehends complex technical issues; defines problem in ways that clearly communicate to technical and non-technical staff; persuasively proposes solution to meet customer mission need
  • Strong customer service team skills/accountability; able to collaborate cross-functional/organizational teams
  • Self-starter comfortable with limited direction to execute; Ability to independently solve problems
  • Ability to work independently and within a distributed team environment; Attentive to detail
  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving, organizational, multi-tasking, time management, load-balancing skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; Able to lead technical forums/reviews/initiatives/studies
  • Comfortable briefing technical and non-technical audiences including senior executives

Desired Qualifications:

  • STEM MS (Science,CompSci,CyberSecurity/Tech/Engineering/Math or related scientific/technical discipline)
  • Relevant Security (CISSP), SE&I (INCOSE), IT (ITIL), Agile (SA; CSM), & Cloud (AWS) certs; SAFe SME
  • Professional certification, commensurate with experience and compliant with DOD 8570
  • Amazon Web Services Certification and experience with the AWS Import/Export Snowball technology
  • Experience working Security Accreditation and Authorization process activities/compliance
  • Experience in preparing a Risk Management Framework (RMF) Body of Evidence for a deployable system
  • Firm understanding of requirements definition, allocations, traceability, linkages and dependencies
  • Strong technical understanding of networks (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN), topologies, web technologies
  • Client/server architecture fundamentals understanding
  • Knowledge of and hands-on experience using SAFe, JIRA, Confluence, and scrum methodologies
  • Working knowledge of NSG & NGA Acquisition Processes & Change Management/CM processes
  • Familiarity with NGA Leaders; Working knowledge of NGA organization, Integrated Program Offices, PORs
  • Military intel, military acquisition, and/or combat arms experience especially at COCOM and tactical levels
  • Knowledge/experience with all source all domain (space, air, sea, land) NGA/IC/DoD/International ISR
