Job Summary

The archives student assistant is responsible for surveying, arranging, and describing historic materials within the Wade Hall Collection of American Letters, including correspondence, diaries, and photographs. Duties will include: inventorying records, evaluating items for preservation and digitization, rehousing materials, entering information into a database, and assisting in the development of finding aids.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Attention to detail, organizational skills, and intermediate computer proficiency. The student should have the ability to follow department procedures and policies and to work without close supervision. It is expected that the student assistant will maintain a regular work schedule. An interest in photography or history is encouraged but respect for the intrinsic value of archival materials is required..

Preferred Education/Experience

Basic computer proficiency with a working knowledge of Microsoft applications, Photoshop, scanning software and hardware, as well as an understanding of database management.
