Responsibilities

The Cloud Engineer (CE) employs a multi-discipline approach to requirements engineering, solutions engineering, scheduling, reliability, resiliency, services development, integration, test and evaluation, maintainability and analysis across architectures to ensure timely and accurate GEOINT. The CE translates mission needs into testable performance requirements or features for agile development consumption. Reporting to the Platform Integration Team Lead, the CE captures systems definition for cloud operations to enable the implementation of complex mission applications. In addition, the CE also manages related baseline documentation for the government customer.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducts requirements engineering, solutions engineering, scheduling, reliability, resiliency, services development, integration, test and evaluation, maintainability and analysis across Architectures
  • Conducts planning, analysis/traceability of user requirements, architectures traceability, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems and review cloud service capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations
  • Develops solutions designs based on analysis of requirements and new technology
  • Participate in planning implementation and growth of the infrastructure on Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure Gov Cloud
  • Work in tandem with the engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud based solutions for the company
  • Work closely with Government and Development contracting teams in the planning, designing and development of cloud based applications.
  • Manage a continuous integration/continuous deployment methodology for the server based technologies
  • Work with the architecture and engineering team to design and implement a cloud management solution that spans multiple cloud service providers, data centers and edge nodes
  • Educate teams on the implementation of cloud based initiatives, providing associated training as required.
  • Remain current on industry trends, make recommendations as needed
  • Assist with AoA and CoA, trade studies, and engineering assessments
  • Proactively engage customer leadership to provide value-added influence to innovative ways to address new initiatives and hard problems
  • Lead the resolution of complex technical issues and risk management efforts, providing a sound systems engineering approach and an enterprise perspective
  • Establish an effective working relationship with the government Operations Chief to ensure program synchronization and technical alignment
  • Monitor and provide assured responses to customer action items and program deficiencies
  • Participate in technical exchange meetings and provide feedback on project plans and technical products
  • Provide technical input to project leads, and engage with the team on project execution
  • Closely collaborate with development contractors, information security engineers, and subject matter experts to build a cohesive team in support of mission objectives
  • Provide input on network design and implementation plans.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • TS/SCI Clearance (with a current SSBI favorably adjudicated within the last 5 years)
  • Bachelors degree in Systems Engineering, or related STEM degree program
  • Mid-level experience in government or industry in relevant work areas including: DoD/IC Acquisition Process, Requirements Process, PPBES Process or system engineering of large complex System of Systems or Service Oriented Architecture/Cloud Environments
  • Demonstrated experience working with Openstack, Linux,/UNIX, Docker, AWS, and/or Microsoft Azure
  • Demonstrated experience with web services, API, REST, and RPC
  • Experience with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Maven, GIT, Ansible, and Sonar Qube in a cloud environment.
  • Experience leveraging Software as a Service, Platform as a Service, and Infrastructure as a Service to deliver capabilities
  • Demonstrated experience with networking and internet protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, HTTPS and distributed networks.
  • Experience with Cloud networking capabilities including load balancers, web application firewalls, Network access control lists (NACLs), security groups, and VPN connectivity
  • On or more industry cloud certifications.
  • 4+ years of experience with the systems engineering lifecycle
  • 4+ years supporting the assessment, evaluation, and deployment of new or emerging technologies into operations or the architectural impacts and a recommendation path forward
  • 4+ years of experience in DoD/IC information systems protection.
  • 4+ years of experience administering program security requirements and special access management functions.
  • 4+ years of experience in managing system interfaces and end-to-end systems integration of new and existing capabilities
  • Experience in project management or technical team leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective relationships with senior level customers
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and present effective technical presentations to senior management; must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented, with proven time management and organization skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) certification

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Systems Engineering or related STEM degree program
  • 4+ years of experience in cloud technology engineering and migration
  • 4+ years of experience agile systems engineering and development methods (User Story Generation, Sprint/Scrum Development, Development Back-log management)
  • 4+ years experience with network systems and architecture.
