Responsibilities

The aircraft team is responsible for adapting commercial and government off-the-shelf (COTS/GOTS) small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) to meet the programs operational needs. This position is for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer (SE). The selected candidate will provide support to the government Program Manager for project planning, and processes necessary to shape this new sUAS program.

Responsibilities:

The Senior SE will be responsible for helping translate the abstract operations needs into verifiable requirements and work closely with the Program Manager to manage cost and schedule against competing requirements. The SE will evaluate and derive test plans and procedures that accurately trace to system requirements for end-to-end system testability and ensure that the system and subsystems meet all operational and performance requirements to achieve mission success. Other responsibilities include:

  • Support the writing and management of system requirements
  • Develop and document test strategies for the evaluation of systems.
  • Ensure requirements are verifiable and can be accurately traced to test procedures.
  • Provide support to client programmatic and technical forums.
  • Assisting COTRs and INFOSEC engineering teams develop system accreditation documentation.
  • Attend relevant component readiness reviews and testing milestones and provide recommendations to the government Project Manager.
  • Assist in the review and assessment of contractor deliverables, and provide an independent assessment of those deliverables.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • TS/SCI with Poly.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • Bachelors degree in engineering, science, or other related technical discipline.
  • 12 to 15 years with BS/BA or 10 to 13 years with MS/MA or 7 to 9 years with Ph.D.
  • Working understanding of system accreditation policy and processes, e.g., ICD 503, etc.
  • Experience working in the government (IC, DIA and military) while supporting technical operations.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team in pursuit organizational goals.
  • Demonstrated expertise in writing, and ability to brief complex technical information to non-experts.
  • Experience working with inter-agency partners on technical intelligence issues and R&D activities.
  • Experience with end-to-end integration and test methods including identification and mitigation of programmatic and technical risk.
  • Hands on experience with field testing and evaluation.
  • Experience with preparation and maintenance of project documentation, cost and master schedules.
  • Clear understanding of/or experience in project and program management methods and processes.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in an engineering, Science or other related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Computer Aided drafting (CAD) design and 3D-printing.
  • Aviation community experience (for example, Private Pilot, Military Aviation, Aircraft Mechanic, or US FAA Part 107 small unmanned aerial systems).
  • Experience with cable writing.

Travel Requirements:

  • CONUS TDY approximately 10 times a year for program reviews and support of testing and evaluation.
  • OCONUS TDY approximately 1 time a year or less in support of operations.
