Overview

We are looking for a systems administrator to join the Carson Team. The ideal candidate would be one that sees the opportunity in the challenge and is driven to implement enterprise-class infrastructure within Carson. You’ll be an active participant in discussions on innovative ways to automate and accelerate our increasing mobile workforce.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verify completion of scheduled job such as backups.

  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.

  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media.

  • Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.

  • Develop and maintain system standards and configuration procedures

  • Contribute to and maintain system standards.

  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.

  • Apply patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / Add new services as necessary.

  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.

  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, Memory and Disk Partitions as required.

  • Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Non-Technology Requirements

  • Effective communicator both written and verbally

  • Working knowledge of help desk software and remote-control solutions

  • Advanced troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills

 

Technology Requirements - Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

  • Looking for minimum 3-5 years’ experience on the following:

    • VMware Hypervisor Environment

    • Server hardware (anything running a server OS or performing server function)

    • Server Operating System (2003, 2008 R2, 2012 R2, 2016)

    • Microsoft Remote Desktop Services

    • Microsoft Active Directory & Azure Active Directory Sync

    • Microsoft SQL Server 2014

    • Microsoft Windows Failover Clustering

    • Nimble Storage Area Network (SAN)

    • Microsoft Office 365 (Security & Compliance)

    • Microsoft Azure

 

Technology Requirements - Optional

  • Internet & WAN connections for all sites

  • Firewall (FortiNet, SonicWall), Including FortiAnalyzer

  • Switch (Juniper)

  • Wireless Network (Aruba)

  • Phone System and Conferencing

  • Dearman v3

 

Processes and Procedures Owned

  • Security hardening standards for IT infrastructure

  • IT Infrastructure Change Management

  • IT Infrastructure deployment

  • IT Infrastructure Maintenance

  • Server Hardware Incident Management

  • Asset management for all IT Infrastructure
