Job Description:

SAIC has a requirement for a Linux/Unix Systems Engineer. The employee will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Linux/Unix servers. Candidate must be experienced with deployment of a standard LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) web server configuration, including standard plugins, SSL and configuration.

- **Must be a U.S. Citizen with an ACTIVE SECRET Clearance and a CompTIA Sec+ Certification***

- The candidate must be able to understand customer business and functional requirements and have technical knowledge so that they can design, implement, and maintain servers, including patching, upgrades, security and user administration.
- Must also be able to configure, conduct and analyze scans and logs, and conduct standard maintenance such as firewall configuration, log rotation, and performance tuning.
- Must be familiar with DoD policies and tools for securing Linux and UNIX servers.
- Must have knowledge of supporting technologies for their servers including basic networking devices (routers and switches), virtualization technology (VMware or Hyper-V virtualization), and cloud technologies and platforms (Docker, OpenStack, PaaS, IaaS, AWS, Openstack or Azure).
- Must have the ability to analyze and effectively troubleshoot and resolve a variety of problems and design issues. They must also be patient and have the ability to work well on a team.

Expected Tasks:

-
Design and implement Linux/Unix servers Back up, recover, maintain and migrate data and programs. Identify and resolve service problems ranging from disaster recovery to login problems.

Enhance and create tools for the Linux environment and its users.

-
Create and update documentation, including maintenance logs and end user training.

-
Provide support for moderately complex technical and team management activities related to system/database administration.

-
Perform moderately complex systems/database administration.

-
Monitor and tune appropriate systems to ensure optimum level of performance.

Oversee appropriate level software installations, upgrades and related software packages

Qualifications:
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and two (2) years or more experience; 4 years of related experience may be used in lieu of a degree.

Required Experience:

-
2+ years with Linux/UNIX Systems administration

-
2+ years with Red Hat Linux systems administration

-
At least two (2) years’ experience administering at least on other version of Linux

UNIX/Linux Security experience

UNIX Shell Scripting
