Coordinate mechanics and make sure facilities are kept in good operating conditions. The duties include inspecting equipment, assigning tasks, setting schedules, supervising repairs, and enforcing safety policies. Ensure maintenance complies with all FDA, DEA and OSHA regulations.  Resolves issues related to Safety, Quality, Production, (equipment, processing, personneletc.).

 

**This will be a 2nd Shift position**

 

Essential Duties / Functions:

  • Supervise and develop union personnel, ensuring adherence to the Union Work Rules.
  • Coordinate with support groups (QA, QC, Manufacturing, Tech Services, etc.) to ensure timely receipt of deliverables.
  • Coordinate, conduct and document departmental training (GMP, SOP, CAPA, etc.)
  • Initiate and assist with deviations (root cause analysis, product impact and corrective/preventative action.)
  • Interview and assist in hiring of new mechanics.
  • Provide support for weekend/overtime staffing when required
  • Demonstrate a high level of compliance with FDA regulations and cGMP
  • Proven ability to build high performance teams through coaching, individual development, by setting clear expectations, and foster accountability.
  • Takes Responsibility, Overcomes obstacles, Escalates issues at the appropriate time / Finds a way to meet commitments.
  • Maintain the facility to meet or exceed FDA, GMP, and Federal requirements.
  • Assist in facilitation, coordination, and supervision of scheduled shutdown activities.
  • Support new equipment installations
  • Guide a team as well as individually adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) that are in effect, reassuring the quality and quantity of product produced.
  • Actively seeks and supports continuous improvement activities in process efficiencies, costs, effectiveness of work and sustainable improvements
  • Must appropriately handle employee questions, concerns, and keep track of issues with the intent to train and coach associates to maintain a positive work environment.
  • Analyze equipment breakdowns to determine source of trouble or malfunction.
  • Maintain department in a safe, clean and orderly condition. Meet all safety objectives/requirements

Education:

  • High School diploma required
  • BS/BA in Science, Engineering or Business Related Field is preferred

 

Experience:

  • 1+ year of Pharmaceutical or industry related operations experience required
  • 3 years minimum experience in a Union manufacturing environment. Pharmaceutical or Chemical industry preferred
  • Progressive performance of leadership responsibilities required

 

Specialized or Technical Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications:

  • Demonstrate project leadership roles for equipment and facilities improvements
  • Demonstrate communication, administrative and strong technical leadership skills with ability to interface well with other departments, and lead effectively and efficiently in a team environment. Solid professional writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing plant setting
  • Strong understanding and ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems. Some experience with PLC Programming and managing maintenance KPIs is preferred.
  • Must have working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability & technical aptitude within a manufacturing maintenance environment
  • Prior experience with general utility systems, boilers, electrical, HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Demonstrate a high level of compliance with FDA regulations and cGMP
  • Proven ability to build high performance teams through coaching, individual development, by setting clear expectations, and foster accountability.
  • Able to dissect complex issues, identify Critical Path forward, Multi-Faceted Thinking without adverse reaction to pressure / Negative impact on subordinates.  Able to manage multiple, projects and duties simultaneously.
  • Ability to judge personnel, assesses capabilities, and provides effective developmental training, and Opportunities.
  • Takes Responsibility, Overcomes obstacles, Escalates issues at the appropriate time / Finds a way to meet commitments.
  • Effectively establishes High Expectations of performance, and Conduct.  Gets buy in from Direct and Indirect staff. Challenges status quo..

 

Physical Demand Requirement:

  • Ability to sit, stand and walk through a plant environment
  • Ability to work in a plant environment
  • Ability to use personal protective equipment as required
  • The position will require working on 2nd, and/or overlapping shifts.
