Description

The Student Account Technician processes various financial transactions for student accounts, process deposits for university departments and maintains proper documentation and reports

DUTIES

  1. Collects and processes various types of payments to student accounts and processes deposits for university departments.
  2. Creates journal entries for daily bank deposits and credit card transactions.
  3. Researches and responds to student and departmental inquiries.
  4. Creates installments and emergency loans and posts them to student accounts.
  5. Posts payment by third party contract agreements to student accounts.
  6. Prepares or verifies cash and check totals for daily bank deposits.
  7. Verifies and closes other cashier daily sessions. Reconciles daily transactions between systems.
  8. Assigns and removes financial holds on student accounts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge:

  1. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of basic office duties such as answer/transferring phone calls, monitoring/responding to emails, faxing, scanning, copying, and maintaining sensitive records

 

Skills:

  1. Candidates must demonstrate work management and prioritizing skills
  2. Candidates must display strong verbal and written communication skills
  3. Competent computer skills including MS Office

 

Abilities:

  1. Candidates must demonstrate ability to take directive and effectively communicate in an office environment
  2. Candidates must possess ability to work in a team
  3. Ability to use 10 key calculator/adding machine


WORK LOCATION AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Primary Work Location: Works in an office environment > 8 hours; lobby customer service island or reception area> 8 hours; windowless spaces > 8 hours.

 

Physical Demands: Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements.

Position is physically comfortable; individual has discretion about sitting, walking and standing.

Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks.
