Role Details:

The Senior Software Engineer will develop high-performance, scalable, repeatable, automated and secure deliverables. This position participates in design, coding, review, testing and debugging activities. This position contributes to lifecycle management, disaster recovery, data management and total cost of ownership of technical services.

Responsibilities:

  • Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging those systems and troubleshoot advanced system issues.
  • Write and organize code using multiple computer languages, including distributed programming and understand different frameworks and paradigms.
  • Lead and conduct code review, design review, testing and debugging activities at the application level.
  • Deliver high-performance, scalable, repeatable and secure deliverables with broad impact (high throughput and low latency).
  • Lead functional design and architecture discussions with understanding of process flows and system diagrams to enable design decisions.
  • Convert agile stories into configuration and development tasks.
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency in core development platforms within own domain.
  • Understand enterprise data quality expectations throughout the data lifecycle.
  • Design/re-design processes that increase internal customer efficiency while maintaining compliance standards.
  • Automate various system tasks/processes that needs to and can be automated.
  • Collaborate with other teams in cloud infrastructure and beyond to develop scalable, automated processes and solutions.
  • Apply independence and creativity to problem-solving.
  • Author internal documentation to educate internal customers on new/updated processes and record design patterns used.
  • Author user stories decomposing solutions designed into discrete deliverables and update status throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Perform data collection, analysis and interpretation to identify process or system gaps for system automation.
  • Lead software development features and deliver high-quality software on schedule.
  • Participate in Business Systems Engineering scrum team, including attending daily stand-ups, bi-weekly sprint planning, bi-weekly demos and backlog grooming sessions.
  • Maintain ongoing communications and awareness of the projects/plans/activities in progress to the rest of the teams.
  • Troubleshoot issues with the production services, tools and dependent third party applications.
  • Support production services (on-call rotation and escalation contact).

Job Requirements:

  • 2- or 4-year degree in technology or equivalent experience in professional web design and development of user interface/internet applications
  • 5+ years front and back end development experience
  • Advanced proficiency in PHP
  • Proficient in HTML5 and CSS3 principles, especially media queries
  • Proficient in JavaScript (jQuery primarily)
  • Experience working with front-end frameworks (e.g., Bootstrap)
  • Experience and understanding of MVC systems
  • Ability to thrive and contribute positively in an extremely fast-paced team environment
  • Curiosity for learning and commitment to continued education in web development in order to stay up-to-date on industry standards
  • Understanding of AJAX principles
  • Experience working with CSS pre-processors like LESS and SCSS
