JOB DESCRIPTION:

SAIC has a career opportunity for a Solutions Architect. This position will support efforts throughout the organization has the opportunity to grow into a Program Manager position to support a NASA customer and other Federal Government projects upon contract award. This position can be performed remotely in the initial stages, but will ultimately be located in Moffett Field, CA.

The Solutions Architect will have lead responsibility for all aspects of technical proposal solution development; selection based on technical and customer domain knowledge and experience. By leveraging domain expertise, the Solutions architect will develop a comprehensive understanding of customer requirements and lead the development of a complete solution meeting all technical requirements resulting in a price competitive proposal.

Responsibilities include:

- Provide technical expertise to the Program Manager during program start-up/transition as requested and assist in technical issue resolution as requested by the Program Manager (PM)
- Provide technical advising to customers as requested by the PM
- Lead and manage all market segment (from both lead and supporting) inputs and activity during capture and proposal development phases
- Identify technical staff needs to support Pre-B&P and B&P activities; coordinate assignment with Solutions Directors, coordinate funding with Capture Manager
- Act as lead for development of proposal staffing plan/matrix and develop BOE to include staff searched in RMS (RAs assist as available)
- Oversee development of executable BOEs consistent with technical solution during the Proposal Phase, coordinate with S3 for lead estimator assignment
- Provide subject matter expertise and lead technical solution development to meet customer technical, schedule and cost requirements
- Support sales activities and customer meetings during capture shaping activities
- Develop white papers and briefings in support of capture efforts
Provide technical expertise to customers during proposal reviews, as requested by CG
- Maximize use of repeatable services and solutions when applicable for proposals and codify repeatable technical solutions for future proposal
Identify additional technologies and solutions that could benefit the entire organization
- The Solutions Architect may also serve as product manager for a repeatable solution, actively managing all aspects of the product development life-cycle and supporting sales through Customer Group accounts
- Plan and implement actions by the program/project team to define and implement technical baseline and meet quality requirements for project/program products and services.

Qualifications:
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- PhD in Computer Science, Physics, applied mathematics, applied physics, engineering physics or physical chemistry.
- Twenty (20) years of experience in Computer Science, Physics, applied mathematics, applied physics, engineering physics or physical chemistry required (to include education)
- Minimum (5) years Program / Project Management experience and expertise specifically with R&D activities in areas related to autonomous systems and robotics, collaborative and assistant systems, discovery and systems, and robust software engineering.
- Demonstrated ability for leading and facilitating primary and indirect R&D activities and support functions to meet mission, customer and partner objectives in a continuously changing environment
- Demonstrated ability in leading and managing a technical, management and administrative workforce of 100 personnel to ensure that the proper resources are available and allocated to ensure research goals are achieved
- Demonstrated experience in managing and executing R&D activities in formal laboratory environments
- Demonstrated experience in collaborating with and maintaining relationships with other US Government agencies, industrial organizations and academic partners for the purpose of joint research and rapid technology transfer
DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- Experience with NASA and NASA Ames is desired. Experience can be based on service as either a NASA Government employee or contractor.
