Perspecta has an upcoming need for a Senior SQL Server/SharePoint Administrator in Washington, DC.

Manage and Support multiple development teams from various agencies withSQL Serverdatabase management,SQLBusiness Intelligenceapplication support,and ColdFusionandIIS administration. Ability to work collaboratively on multi-disciplinary teams.

Administer and ManageSharePointOn-premise farms and supportSharePoint Onlinesite collections.Possess excellent written, verbal communication skills, and attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills and strong sense of ownership, necessary. Exceptional customer service and ability to work outside of business hours, weekends and occasional night shifts, required.


Requires BA/BS or equivalent additional experience in computer science or related discipline, with 8 to 10 years of experience or MS degree with 6 to 8 years of experience or a PhD with 3 to 5 years experience.

  • Install, configure and administer production and non-productionSQL Serverdatabases and Business Intelligence environmentsfor multiple development teams across various agencies.
  • Install, configure and administer SharePoint 2013/2007farms and SharePoint Online.
  • Expertise in upgrade/migration from SQL Server 2008, 2012 to SQL Server 2014 and SQL Server 2016.
  • Strong experience in High Availability/Disaster Recovery (HADR) solutions; Failover Clusters and AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Replication, Log Shipping and Mirroring.
  • Experience in Database Administration on Production and non-Production environments with Server Configuration, Performance Tuning and maintenance with outstanding troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Solid experience in Backup and Recovery, Query Optimization and Database Security.
  • Experience in creating complicated SSIS, SSRS and SSAS Packages for various Reporting and Data needs.
  • Ability to provide on call support during peak season and year end activities.
  • Create and administer SharePoint site collections for multiple agencies.
  • Manage user access and security.
  • Develop and support custom workflows to support customer business process.
  • Deploy change requests and implement service desk tickets in production and non-production environments.
  • Experience in providing ColdFusionsupport for mission critical and high visibility applications, preferred.
  • 10 years experience designing and implementing SQL databases.
  • Candidate must currently be working as a Senior SQL DBA supporting an environment with 50 to 100+ combination of virtual and physical SQL servers.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with SSIS, Database administration & security, indexing, optimization, replication, and reporting services.
  • SharePoint online administration experience with site creation and permissions/site access.
  • Experience with configuration and administration of Power BI.
  • Create automation for repeating database administration tasks using tools such as MS Power Automate, PowerShell etc.
  • Install, upgrade and administer SQL Server database engine, Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services (SSRS), and Analysis Services (SSAS)
  • Extensive administrative experience in SQL Server 2008 R2/2012/2014/2016/2017/2019.
  • Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards.
  • Experience with implementing database security and hardening (STIGS) and with implementing and managing SQL Server high-availability technologies (replication, mirroring, failover clusters, etc.)
  • Experience working with VMWare.
  • Strong experience with SQL Server Migrations.

Candidate will be asked to perform the following duties:

  • Ability to work with clients, peers and management in a highly visible, mission critical environment.
  • Monitor and proactively maintain a multi-server environment consisting of SQL Server 2008/2012/2014/2016 and 2017 versions on both Windows 2012/2016 and 2019 platforms in production, staging and test environments.
  • Develop and implement improved processes for server maintenance, back-up and recovery, fail-over and clustering.
  • Meet with both internal and external teams to gather requirements for upcoming database needs, implementation of those requirements, testing and monitoring for specific functional and performance targets.
  • Maintain documentation for maintenance processes, server configurations (both how to configure and current configurations)
  • Support data calls and specific applications as needed from both the database and application server standpoint.
  • Evaluate, implement and maintain Microsoft technology, security updates, hot fixes, upgrades and version releases to ensure architecture stability.
  • Provide troubleshooting of database related issues per incident tickets.
  • Demonstrate ability to analyze resource bottlenecks and provide suggestions to team, management and internal customers on how to alleviate pressure and plan for capacity.
  • Provide recommendations and strategies to application owners on how to improve performance and scalability of their database components.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis for database and SQL server related issues per monitoring tools.
  • Deploy change requests per the standard change management system.
  • Ensure database Continuity of Operations (COOP). Develop HA/DR strategies and monitor and maintain them. (Cluster, Mirroring, Always On, Replication, Log Shipping)
  • Develop SOPs, procedures, and website documentation as needed.
  • Recommend and implement new database technologies.
