Job Description

 

We are seeking a Senior Analyst to play a central role in developing service provider SDN and NFV research for network infrastructure, within the Network Core Technology team. The ideal candidate will be highly commercial, with an appreciation of the digital service provider market, current transformation to software centric architecture and its associated technologies. This role will look beyond communications service provider (CSPs) and include Internet Cloud Providers (ICPs). 

 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • We are looking for expertise in SDN/NFV and four or more key coverage areas for network core and telco cloud. The topic areas include: SDN architecture, SDN controllers, SD-WAN, NFV, Distributed Network architecture alternatives, Mobile Edge Computing, as well as MANO, ONOS, CORD and Openstack.
  • Leverage existing reputation in the market as an analyst with confidence to take a stand on major issues.
  • Generate evidence-based research projects, vendor assessments and forecasts in the core topics areas that are published on the Ovum knowledge centre, our client portal.
  • With the support of the sales team, lead negotiations with customers and prospects in order to promote and sell the team’s services
  • Use well-honed primary research skills to gather data and insight into the market, with a particular focus on CTO, CIO and CMO purchasing priorities. 

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Excellent knowledge of the vendors who supply the service provider market within their network services
  • SDN/NFV experience with the vendors (existing and emerging) that supply the large CSP and ICPs.
  • Excellent written communicationskills, with the ability to synthesize complex ideas.
  • Strong verbal communicationand presentation skills, including a personable manner and the confidence to present to, engage with, and influence executives at the highest levels of the telecommunications industry.
  • Numeracy, with the ability to build and maintain market forecasts and present complex concepts and trends from data in a compelling manner.
  • The ability to quickly and coherently identify and communicate critical issues impacting the commercial performance of Ovum’s clientsacross the enterprise services value chain.
  • The ability to build a profilewith industry contacts and opinion formers. A network of existing industry contacts would be desirable.
  • A proven track record of managing a workload to ensure deadlinesare met and client expectations are exceeded.
