Job Details

The primary goal of the Purchasing Clerk is to facilitate the paperwork flow for purchasing department, and assist the Purchasing Agents in their support of the sales staff.  The Purchasing Clerk’s primary responsibilities include:  A) Data entry of purchase orders and preparing and maintaining PO packages.  B) Electronically receiving purchased material into the ERP system from shipping documents provided by vendors. C) Entering and coordinating transfer orders between Tube Service divisions.   This must be done in the most efficient manner to achieve the greatest degree of production and reach the goal of excellent customer service.  He/she is required to learn how to navigate our computer database (eStel).  The Purchasing Clerk is required to regularly communicate with the Purchasing manager, Sales Department, as well as other company team members and customers.

  • Must be organized, perform well under pressure, and possess good communication skills.
  • Responsible for entering purchase orders created by purchasing agents.
  • Receiving newly purchased material into the company database.
  • Entering branch transfers and coordinating the transfers with sales and warehouse personnel.
  • Entering Inventory Cycle Count information into the database .
  • Familiarizes themselves on the best practices of the company, and educates themselves on the 
  • inventory, machinery and processing capabilities.
    Works professionally and effectively with other coworkers to service customers’ needs.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of purchasing experience
  • Ability to read, analyze and follow verbal and written instructions in documents such as work orders, safety rules, procedural manuals, etc.  
  • Must be organized detail oriented.
  • Ability to speak clearly and effectively to customers, visitors, and members of your company.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all common units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions, as well as alternative solutions.
  • Overall ability to understand the goals of the company (safety, efficiency, quality, etc.).
  • Must be proficient on a computer keyboard and 10key machine.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to effectively use company database (eStel).
  • Must demonstrate conflict resolution, respect, integrity, ethics, punctuality, dependability, accuracy, safety, and teamwork while maintaining company values.             
  • Individual must observe safety practices at all times when entering the warehouse; hard hat, safety    glasses, and follow Corporate and Division safety guidelines.
