Program Manager – Fulbright Junior Faculty Development Program

A key member of the 20-person unit charged with managing the Fulbright Foreign Student Program in the Middle East and North Africa, the Program Manager is responsible for independently managing the Fulbright Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP) and Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program for Iraq (IVSP).




  • Lead the development, planning and implementation of Fulbright JFDP and IVSP;
  • Develop university relations and outreach plan for augmenting Fulbright placement and cost share opportunities;
  • Develop and oversee orientation and enrichment workshop plans;
  • Communicate with State Department, field offices, Fulbright Commissions, U.S. Academic institutions and other agencies concerning program-related matters;
  • Conduct program evaluation and assess grant compliance;
  • Conduct campus visits, presentations and other outreach efforts for potential host institutions;
  • Represent Fulbright and AMIDEAST at U.S. professional conferences;
  • Coordinate application review processes for university host selection;
  • Manage the host institution proposal and selection processes;
  • Develop and refine program materials for outreach, orientations, etc.;
  • Support communication channels to address participant and university host inquiries;
  • Forecast participant costs, monitor host institution grant budgets, approve grant payments, track and audit disbursements;
  • Oversee maintenance and content development for JFDP’s web pages;
  • Supervise Program Officer and assign work load as leader of manager/officer team;
  • Serve as Alternate Responsible Officer on the Fulbright Exchange Visitor Program designation;
  • Train staff       in systems and procedures, assist with revising program documents and manuals;
  • Serve as a member of interview committees for PO and PA openings;
  • Assist with annual Fulbright proposal submission;
  • Draft statistical and narrative reports;
  • Assist with refining program operations and procedures and work with support staff to resolve program issues;
  • Monitor and advise a caseload of continuing HEI – Egypt grantees.




  • BA required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 6-8 years’ experience in project coordination and management
  • Previous supervisory experience required
  • Experience with J-1 exchange visitor programs
  • Ability to maintain and organize a large amount of detailed information (ex: budgetary and student related information), particularly with Excel
