Director, Technology Category Leader

The leader of the Technology Category leads a team of experts driving cost effective solutions across the supply base supporting the unique needs of our government clients.

The technology category is made up of multi-hundred million dollar spend across software, cloud, hardware, and telecom This leader will be accountable for developing and driving the technology category strategy, soliciting demand from business stakeholders, directing and negotiating agreements and managing market trends for both risk and opportunity with the goal of driving cost reductions and margin expansion.

This proven leader should have a demonstrated history and track record leading teams and managing both internal and external c-suite executives. In addition, they should have a strong financial proficiency of accounting principals and financing and be able to develop relationships across functions that support team objectives. The position requires close collaboration with key stakeholders to execute against category strategies and key business priorities. The two primary drivers for success are capturing value or accelerating revenue for the key business stakeholders. This position will be responsible for a multi-hundred million in annual Information Technology spend and will report directly to the Vice President, Supply Chain and Procurement.

Supplier Management and Strategy

  • Lead a team with the development of the technology Category Strategy leveraging market research, business unit demands, business solutioning partners and rationalization of supplier base that maximize margin.
  • Managing supplier relationships, involving the ongoing management of suppliers and contractual agreements as well conducting quarterly business reviews with key suppliers.
  • Perform continuous market analysis by category for key goods and services, pricing and benchmarking and creation of supplier play cards and profiles.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Key point of interface for businesses general managers and their executive and account teams
  • Solicit inputs and collaborate effectively across organizational levels, functions, businesses, and geographies to realize procurement goals and objectives.
  • Remain current with market trends through relationships with suppliers and market experts; identify and communicate new technologies and solutions to key problems in the assigned spend areas.

Value Capture

  • Develop and execute against category cost improvement and margin expansion initiatives.
  • Leverage category-specific industry knowledge develop cost savings and cost avoidance business cases for application within Perspecta.

This role is located in the Perspecta Chantilly Headquarters office in Virginia.


  • Minimum of 5-10 years leading the technology category for a systems integrator and direct experience working in the US public sector.
  • Requires BA/BS with 12 to15 years, with at least six plus years as a manager. Incumbent will have a specialized knowledge in one or more fields of disciplines and general knowledge in a number of others.

  • Demonstrated, successful track record in leading the Technology category for a systems integrator,
  • Ability to manage competition priorities across multiple lines of business to develop common objectives that drive value
  • Strong ability to build relationships and networks with multiple functions and at the leadership levels
  • Comfort and familiarity with executive presentations communications and building business cases
  • Strong analytical capabilities and negotiation skills
  • Results oriented, self-starter with proven leadership skills driving team objectives
