**Role Summary:**



The Principal Data Engineer for Engineering will partner closely with the Principal Data Architect to



create the strategy for identifying, extracting, transforming, and loading data from various eng



source systems into a consolidated data environment to support scalability of eng horizontal



applications as well as advanced analytics across eng and the Digital Thread. The Engineer will also



build the strategy to expose the data through APIs to various stakeholders.







**Essential Responsibilities:**







+ Become subject matter expert on types of Engineering data; nuances between businesses for source systems, data hygiene, and initiatives to harmonize data across individual businesses



+ Understand objectives around which data should be harmonized, shared, extended across businesses, extended outside of engineering, and pulled in from non-engineering products



+ Assist in building a master data management strategy and determine toolset to curate, ingest, cleanse, master, and expose mastered data to other products across the Digital Thread



+ Partner with business engineering teams to understand value of data and uses for different types of data in various applications/products



+ Build ingestion strategy for engineering (et al) data and threading strategy to create consistent data models regardless of source system ingested



+ Create lean architecture strategy for ingesting, transforming, storing, and accessing data for applications and analytics end users



+ Design and implement API strategy for exposing data through end-user tools and other applications







+ include security, persona-based, and other considerations in solution delivery







**Qualifications/Requirements:**







+ Bachelors Degree in Information Systems, Data Engineering, Computer Science (or related major)



+ Minimum 7-10 years of experience with data modeling, ingestion, ETL, engineering, and/or architecture to create an analytics/reporting data model(s)



+ Minimum 3-5 years of experience working with engineering or supply chain data







Eligibility Requirements:







+ Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.



+ Must be willing to work out of the Van Buren, MI technology center







**Desired Characteristics:**







+ Proven experience leading others (formally or informally) to create cohesive Digital Technology solutions



+ Experience building data solutions in AWS involving multiple source-systems



+ Experience/knowledge of PLM, CAD, et al engineering applications



+ Project and time management skills and experience



+ Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface and influence across functions



+ A proven ability to critically assess, drive action, and deliver meaningful results in a fast-paced environment



+ Agile software development experience preferred
