Job Summary

Departments of Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, Physiology, and SAHA Cardiovascular Research Center University of Kentucky College of Medicine

A Federal-funded Post-doctoral position available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Douglas Andres for a talented and motivated individual with documented research accomplishments and bench skills. The candidate will participate in ongoing analysis of novel Ras family GTPase signaling cascades in cardiovascular health and disease, with a focus on cardiac metabolism and innovative therapeutic approaches for adult cardiomyopathy in collaboration with Dr. Jonathan Satin (UK Physiology and SAHA Cardiovascular Research Center). Our research uses an integrative approach across the Andres and Satin labs to explore heart failure progression that includes molecular, cellular, biochemical, electrophysiological, in vivo imaging, and genetic methods in primary cells and engineered mice models. Significant projects with innovative animal models are currently underway and are well suited for a postdoc to complete in the near future. Our integrative team approach creates an ideal environment for scientific and professional development.

Job Requirements:
Qualified applicants must possess a recent Ph.D. (or equivalent) and experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, metabolomics, physiology, molecular signaling, or a closely related field. In addition, qualified applicants should possess a publication record of original peer-reviewed research. The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and have strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
