Description

The Plumber performs maintenance repairs, renovations and fabrications of drain, water, vent, natural gas piping systems, and overall plumbing appurtenances

DUTIES

  1. Maintains, repairs, modifies and fabricates all drains, water, vents and all associated equipment and plumbing fixtures
  2. Maintains, repairs, modifies and fabricates delivery systems to include pumps, piping, tank, toilets, and urinals and associated support equipment
  3. Maintains, repairs, modifies and fabricates natural gas piping from meter up to end device
  4. Maintains, repairs, modifies and fabricates drain/sewage from device to tie for the city and county
  5. Maintains, repairs, modifies and fabricates irrigation systems from outlet of water meter to inlet of irrigation control valve
  6. Maintains and repairs PRV valves and appurtenances for tank level controls


MARGINAL DUTIES

  1. Occasional driving or operation of University vehicle
  2. On call 24 hours a day for all plumbing related incidents
  3. Performs all duties as assigned

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of trends, issues, and accepted practices relevant to the position

  • Candidates must have strong analytical and problem solving skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community



WORK LOCATION AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Primary Work Location:

  • Inside and outside environment

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds; ability to climb a ladder and stairs and maintain balance; frequent Stooping/Bending;10% of time spent sitting, 40% of time standing, 50% of time walking; occasional overhead, and horizontal reaching; acute hearing required; frequent speaking; cultural regional accents acceptable
  • Corrected vision to 20/40 color vision and ability to distinguish all colors
  • No light duty work.

General air conditioned environment, but occasional exposure to cold and heat; occasional exposure to wet/dry environment; occasional exposure to noise and vibrations; normal physical hazards of construction and demolition. Occasional exposure to fumes/dust/odors
