Principal Consultant – Informa | Pharma Intelligence, New York, NY

 

Informa Pharma Intelligence is seeking a Principal Consultant to join its team in New York, NY.  A Principal Consultant in the Pharma Consulting team is a key member of the team responsible for generating new business, supporting the Global Director and Directors on overall strategy for the group, and the direct management of Senior Consultants and Consultants in their execution of client projects.

 

Job Summary

Possessing proven market and commercial intelligence expertise, Principal Consultant sell a broad range of information based consulting projects independently, and, with the Senior Consultants on the team, plan for their execution and take part in delivery. As a Principal Consultant, it will be your responsibility to set the high standards required of Senior Consultants and Consultants within the team. This will include ensuring communication between clients and project teams is effective, projects are running efficiently, team members are developing, and the overall group is working effectively to its strategy. Principal Consultants are among those responsible for ensuring that revenue targets are achieved and the high standards of projects is ensured.

 

The successful applicant will possess:

  • A can do attitude and an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Proven client management and presentation skills
  • Ability to work across a range of projects at the same time with varying degrees of complexity
  • Ability to see the big picture and understand how the client will use the information to meet commercial objectives
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to dive into detail and analyze key issues, identify insights, and develop actionable recommendations
  • Strong quantitative skills, including expertise in forecasting (patient or demand based) and/or net present valuation (NPV) modelling
  • Ability to think laterally about researching and sourcing information from within and outside of internal company resources
  • Proven communication skills both written and verbal
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel including ability to build and interrogate complex models

Ideal background

  • Knowledge of different research methodologies, gained either through briefing agencies and working with the data or through agency experience, would be highly beneficial
  • Minimum Bachelors degree in a related discipline; an MBA or an MSc is an advantage but not essential
  • The ideal candidate will have direct experience consulting to healthcare and pharmaceutical companies, having managed client relationships and sold a book of business
  • The ideal candidate will have demonstrated career progression to being able to manage teams either with direct line responsibility or on a virtual basis, and will be able to bring out the best in demanding situations
