Perspecta has an immediate/upcoming need for a Network Operations Center Technician (Entry) in theBelleville, IL area.

Perspecta is currently looking for dedicated, dependable, and reliable Entry Level Network Operation Center (NOC) Technicians to support the upcoming GSMO-II contract with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). DISA provides network operations management support to its national security customers via Department of Defense (DoD) Information Networks/Defense Information System Network (DODIN/DISN) capabilities which are deployed and operated worldwide. DODIN/DISN capabilities are functionally a system-of-systems entity that is in a continuing sustainment phase of its life cycle. NOC Technicians monitor critical network elements and applications using various network monitoring systems on a 24x7x365 basis to troubleshoot, repair and maintain telecommunications networks. Computerized network management systems are used to check for system alarms when parts of the network are not working properly jeopardizing the level of communication services available to customers. Technician's follow procedures to validate, troubleshoot and escalate issues. Candidates will support one of the following functional areas: IP, Transport (Optical and Promina), Unified Capabilities, SATCOM, Ground Control Network (GNC), Airborne Intelligence, Surveillance, and Joint Regional Security Stack (JRSS).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for monitoring, operating, managing, troubleshoot and restoring to operational service for any/all components comprising of the DISN and its services.
  • These components/services include but are not limited to the following: modems, voice/video/data switches, Call Managers, Juniper and Cisco Routers, satellite, microwave and fiber optics both vendor-provided and government owned, cryptographic equipment such as SafeNet Type 1 and II encyptors, KG-250 and -KG340's.

Tasks include:

  • Conducting network and telecommunications system incident investigation.
  • Identifying and documenting network errors and solutions.
  • Performing fault isolation and diagnostic/assessment functions to include determination and execution of corrective action(s) on a real-time basis.
  • Interfacing with functional users as well as remote operations centers in both routine and reactive monitoring situations.
  • Analyzing network and telecommunications alarms and identify potential issues.
  • Performing technician level maintenance on all components/assets associate with network management systems.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; may hold 2 year post-high school Degree (technical field); may hold Bachelor's degree.
  • May hold entry level certification(s) in field of work.
  • Typically, 2-4 years of working experience in related fields.
  • 2 years of relevant technical discipline; additional related years of experience is accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Hold DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE or equivalent) prior to start date.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Able to work in a 24x7x365 shift work environment.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: alarm surveillance, fault management, WAN maintenance.
  • General understanding in one or more of the following: routers (Juniper/Cisco), switches, crypto devices, routing, Voice and Video over IP, Promina, CISCO, MSPP, Optical Switching, Call Managers.
  • General understanding of network topologies, circuit flow, IP Addressing, Routing, Switching etc.
  • Currently possess an active Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CCNA, CCNA Collaboration, Juniper related certifications or equivalents.
  • ITIL v3 Foundation
