Job Description:

This is a mid-level ground system development position with an emphasis on software development in support of the Telemetry & Command (T&C) segment of the ground system for the Restore-L mission.

Job Responsibilities:

- Processing Mission Planning/Scheduling Monitoring & Notification Analysis IT Infrastructure and Security Space to Ground communications

- Ground system architecture development.
- Interface identification between internal and external entities.
- Human-Machine interface development.
- Perform and support engineering trades.
- Develop, unit test, and package software and scripting.
- Integration and Test Support integration of the Mission Control System subsystems.
- Participate in verification and validation activities (planning, execution, test reports).

Documentation development.

Support development of Interface Control Documents (ICD).

Support presentations for NASA reviews.

Qualifications

:
Required Education and Experience:

- Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience.

The candidate shall have a strong technical base in the following areas:

- Overall experience in satellite ground system life-cycle development

- Ground system architecture development
- Design, development, integration, testing, and post-launch support.
- Understanding how different components interface with each other in requirements and design space

- Telemetry & Command
- Ground System Processing
- Mission Planning/Scheduling
- Monitoring & Notification
- Analysis
- IT Infrastructure and Security
- Space to Ground communications (experience with Space Network and Near Earth Network interfaces and capabilities a plus)
- Interface identification between internal and external entities
- Develop detailed specifications and write code, including unit tests
- Package software for simple installation
- Perform and support engineering trades
- Integration and Test

- Support integration of the Mission Control System subsystems
- Participate in verification and validation activities (planning, execution, test reports)
- Experience developing simulation capabilities for training, rehearsals and integration testing a plus
- Documentation development

- Support development of Interface Control Documents (ICD)
- Support presentations for NASA reviews

At a minimum, the personnel shall have the following skills:

- HMI development experience (e.g., UI frameworks for desktop and web development; Django, Rails, Struts, Swing, GTK+, Qt, OpenGL or equivalent (the more the better); RESTful client/server interfaces; Automated UI testing)
- Mainstream language experience (C++, Java, Python)
- Continuous integration
- Unit testing and mocking frameworks
- Linux familiarity including networking, software package management and general scripting in languages such as Bash
- Knowledge of system engineering and integration tools, including configuration and change management tools
- Experience in ground system development, installation and test
- Professional software development in a team environment
- Strong ability to interact with distributed team members and different corporate cultures
