Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who is energized by a passion to create next generation products. If you are driven, curious and an explorer of advanced technologies, we would like to hear from you.

As a member of the Advanced Packaging mechanical engineering team in Fort Washington, the team member will be responsible for the design, development, documentation and testing of a mechanical subsystem that is part of a high performance semiconductor assembly machine under development.

Responsibilities include:

  • Take ownership for the design of a mechanical subsystem of a new high speed, high precision semiconductor assembly machine under development within the Advanced Packaging Business Unit.
  • Create thorough and professional CAD models of machine parts and assemblies, including motion systems
  • Select motion and automation components such as bearings, belts, valves, sensors based on defined requirements
  • Assess mechanical designs for technical risk and reliability using engineering fundamentals, FEA, prototype proof of concept testing, etc.
  • Create and maintain Bills of Material, create high quality drawings and/or direct designers in creating part and assembly drawings.
    • Attention to detail and project management of small team
  • Oversee prototype builds and testing
  • Provide expert technical support to our field engineers and customers during critical customer evaluation (occasional international travel may be required)

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical engineering
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD design for machine parts and assemblies comprising up to 200 parts
    • NX CAD is a plus, but not required
  • At least 3 years of machine design experience relevant to machinery or automation systems including motors, bearings, linear guides, belts, sensors, etc.,
  • Knowledge of low volume manufacturing methods and mechanical engineering standards including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance).
  • Full design cycle experience, from proof of concept through prototyping, development and commercial realization.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
