SAIC is currently executing low rate initial production for USMC Assault Amphibious Vehicle Survivability Upgrade (AAVSU) program. Manufacturing Engineer will support AAVSU program and other platform integration programs supporting various Department of Defense customers. SAIC is investing in new platform integration facility projected to open in 2018 – opportunity to be a team member in period of exciting growth!

Manages the activities and staff in an assembly function, which may include but is not limited to, a wide variety of electronic, electro-mechanical, mechanical or measurement product assembly operations on product components, assemblies or sub-assemblies. Determines and/or follows methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring, component installation, hand soldering, cable harnessing, welding and fitting on assembly units. Makes setups and adjustments holding tolerances to blueprint specifications. Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; uses a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining; fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required. Some machines may be numerically controlled. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Required Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 9+ years of experience OR a Masters degree and 7 years of experience required.
• Experience in automotive or specialty vehicle production planning required
• Demonstrated success implementing Plan for Every Part (PFEP) and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
• Experience with Manufacturing Readiness Handbook requirements and assessments preferred
• Previous member or chair of Material Review Boards (MRB)
• Experience developing and managing Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM) across multiple vehicle variants
• Ability to create assembly line layout for efficient use of manufacturing space
• Experience implementing new software system in production environment a plus
• Familiarity with Manufacturing Readiness Level Deskbook a plus
• AutoCAD a plus
