## Job Mission

Effectively lead and develop a team of 5-15 people as well as support the group in a hands on role. As a hands on leader, be able to perform preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance on a variety of production machinery in a team environment of precision optics fabrication. Recognize potential improvements to existing processes and guide the implementation of new products and processes. Ensure quality and standardization while contributing to improvements in effectivity and efficiency. With minimal supervision, effectively lead a team in support of opticians in the fabrication and coating of precision optics, such that department and/or Product Family Key Performance Indicators are met. These may include, but are not limited to, Labor Hours, Cycle Time, On-Time Delivery performance, 5s performance, and cross-training effectiveness. This individual is intended to support and maintain fabrication equipment, including CNC, NC and manual Grinding/Polishing equipment, as well as multiple vacuum systems used in manufacturing of precision optical thin film coatings. The applicant will need to have advanced computer skills and be familiar with SAP. The ability to read and understand schematics and manuals, as well as follow written and verbal work instructions is required. Troubleshooting and quick decision making is needed on a daily basis.

## Job Description

Without direct supervision, will support various production CNC and Grinding/Polishing machine maintenance functions including, but not limited to: maintaining running equipment, troubleshooting and repairing broken equipment, installation of new equipment, modifications to existing equipment, and preventative and predictive maintenance of production machines.


Act as coach, mentor, and leader of a talented team.
Ensure that team/department goals are congruent with Company objectives.
Develop and maintain strategies that assure the achievement of internal and external customer requirements.
Be responsible for all administrative duties of the department, including time and attendance record-keeping and performance/merit reviews.
Anticipate resource requirements and re-allocate/request accordingly in order to meet department goals.
Create/maintain work schedules and establish work priorities.
Identify key areas of improvement within the department/group and implement accordingly.
Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
Work effectively with peers such that goals are met and continuity of production is assured.
Administer and enforce company policies and procedures in a direct and consistent manner.
Work with Human Resources on disciplinary issues and hiring decisions; participate in candidate interviews.
Display innovative problem resolution and develop/encourage new ideas and methods.
Develop competencies within the department that focus on technical skills, continuous improvement, teambuilding, and cross-training.
Leading by example, encourage personal motivation in an effort to achieve world class quality and performance.
Maintain and repair industrial pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, and mechanical equipment, including manual and CNC machining centers, surface grinders, large polishers, and vacuum coating equipment.
Troubleshoot to the piece/part level; recommend and perform required repairs, including part requisition and replacement, with minimal impact to shop productivity.
Be able to read and research electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical schematics and parts diagrams.
Be familiar with multi-meters and other diagnostic and hand tools.
Be familiar with and able to troubleshoot and repair PLC controls.
Be familiar with lock-out/tag out procedures.
Be able to work alone or in a team environment.
Must be able to work safely and follow policies and procedures in an industrial environment under minimal supervision.
Must possess effective communication skills and strong PC skills.
Must maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs, to supervisors and co-workers on all shifts.
Candidate will be required to wear PPE where appropriate and embrace ASML 5S requirements.

## Education

 4 Year Business or Technical degree or equivalent experience.
 Technical certificate
 Vacuum Training / thin film training
 Machine Maintenance and Repair

## Experience

Strong analytical skills – capable of translating requirements into executable actions and schedule.
Strong problem solving skills – be able to identify and solve problems in a timely manner.
Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities.
Strong interpersonal, coaching, and teambuilding skills.
Ability to effectively communicate one on one and in small groups to operators, management, engineers, suppliers, and customer reps.
Advanced high vacuum pump knowledge and service : “Cryogenic, dry pumps, and turbo molecular”
Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints and technical drawings
Electrical troubleshooting and repair experience – PLC experience preferred
Microsoft Word, Excel, SAP, required
Ability to lift 30 pounds and follow strict company safety rules
Familiarity with overhead crane operation and basic safety
Experience with ISO9001 and ISO 14000 requirements.
Proven (5+ years) supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
Prior Optical Fabrication experience preferred.
Experience with Optical Coating a plus.
Experience with continuous improvement/lean manufacturing
