Job Description:

An opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team.

The team’s primary responsibilities are to deliver the following:

1.) a secure, reliable and stable Linux Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Ubuntu operating system to customers, called the Common Operating Environment (COE)

2.) support the management solutions and machines connected to the management infrastructure to ensure the Linux devices can be kept up to date with patches and latest version of COE software

3.) develop tools and scripts that integrate the Linux COE management system data with other corporate tools to show compliance with cyber security and asset management at our client’s location

4.) collaborate with others to facilitate management of the Linux community to minimize our clients cyber risk. These services are delivered on the unclassified and classified networks, each of which has its unique requirements.

Primary Job Duties:

- Collaborates on the design and implementation of OS deployment tools
- Collaborates and develops COE applications that support the OS in our client’s environment
- Provides tier 3 support for customers connected to the management solutions on the classified and unclassified networks
- Implements and provides tier 3 support for software solutions that may be commercial-off the shelf or internally developed
- Investigates, tests, documents and supports existing production software
- Involved in meeting software compliance and quality standards and help guide hardware purchasing decisions for end users
- Uses judgement to suggest solutions that balance customer needs, business constraints and technological realities
- Develops test plans and performs testing
- Document work and results
- Develop knowledge base articles for our client’s Service Desk
- Collaborates with various IT support partners and development teams to improve the overall quality of delivery, not just for the team, but for the entire organization
- Enthusiastic about staying current with new technologies
- Monitor industry trends and best practices Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Ability to work with various Red Hat operating systems, hardware, system architectures, and network infrastructures.
- High degree of knowledge and experience in testing methodologies, including the ability to troubleshoot and identify solutions for issues
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment and interact with diverse customers understanding the business domain.
- Ability to work in a structured testing and release environment
- Demonstrated ability to be self- motivating in order to organize, prioritize, and follow through to completion on multiple tasks, often under strict deadlines with little direct supervision
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Qualifications:
Required Skills:

HS & 8-9+ yrs experience or BA & 4-5 yrs experience

- 5+ years experience with Red Hat and/or Ubuntu technical support and troubleshooting
- 3+ years experience with system administration on Red Hat and/or Ubuntu
- Experience with enterprise management solutions to patch and upgrade Red Hat and Ubuntu Linux distributions

Clearance:

Ability to obtain and maintain a required DOE Q security clearance

Desired Skills:

- Familiarity with Red Hat Satellite or the Ubuntu Landscape management solutions
- Definition/documentation of requirements and the ability to create and implement test plans
- SCN experience
- Operating system deployment/imaging experience
- Some development/scripting abilities (i.e. powershell, vbscript, python, c# or similar)
- Experience managing group policies
- Experience with the evaluation and implementation of common industry security baselines
- Active Clearance
