Then consider joining the Accessibility Outreach and Education Unit at the Accessibility Directorate of Ontario, for a challenging position that will allow you to hone your organizational, stakeholder management and program delivery skills.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

• Coordinate programs and activities to increase the profile and awareness of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) with obligated organizations and the public at large

• Develop effective partnerships and networks with a range of stakeholders and clients to help them meet their AODA requirements

• Deliver speeches, presentations and workshops, and attend stakeholder events on behalf of the Directorate

• Support the management of strategic transfer payment partnerships to support transformational accessibility initiatives

• Provide expertise on issues, trends, and best practices in accessibility issues, barrier removal, and public education methods

Travel within Ontario to represent the Directorate at trade shows, conferences and speaking engagements to give speeches and presentations will be required for this role. Work on weekends and during irregular work hours is also required.

How do I qualify?

Program Development and Coordination:

• You have experience in analysing and identifying public education and outreach needs, and developing strategies, programs and activities to meet those needs

• You have experience proposing and managing innovative projects designed to drive action or change in writing and through the development of business cases

• You have strong organizational skills and have demonstrated experience in delivering fast, accurate and well-rounded deliverables to management

Communications Skills:

• You have excellent oral communication skills to prepare and deliver presentations to external audiences and stakeholders

• You are able to use persuasion skills to communicate and drive action on accessibility legislation among employers in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors

• You have excellent writing skills to draft educational and promotional resources on legislative obligations, barrier removal, and accessibility best practices

Stakeholder Relations and Partnership Building Skills:

• You have partnership building skills to work with outside organizations to build buy-in and create and implement educational projects on accessibility

• You have excellent consultation and advisory skills to work with stakeholders to determine their needs and provide information about the AODA

• You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills to research, investigate and provide recommendations on issues and relationships with stakeholder organizations and partners

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

• You have experience managing administrative, financial, operational, and research activities that support projects, in order to oversee transfer payment agreements

• You have effective project management skills to coordinate and facilitate large projects, special events and initiatives with multiple stakeholders and cross-functional project teams

• You know the principles of accessibility for people with disabilities and have experience interpreting, applying, and advising stakeholders and members of the public on complex legislation (such as the AODA)

Salary Range:$61,3970 - $85,839 per year
