The Position:
Applications are currently being accepted for Instructional Assistant / Auto Body / Paint in the Career Technical Education department located at Educational Cultural Complex, SDCE. Hours are 6 a.m. To 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs.

Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.

Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge: Basic knowledge of auto body repair and painting. Correct procedures for preparing a car for painting. District organization, operations, policies, and objectives. English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary. General needs and behavior of students of various ethnic, racial, and cultural backgrounds. Instructional methods and techniques. Operation, maintenance, uses, and characteristics of a wide variety of equipment used in auto body repair and paint. Oral and written communication skills. Principles and practices of work direction and training. Record-keeping techniques. Safety regulations involving the field of specialty. Technical aspects of auto body repair and auto painting. Skills and Abilities: Assistant students in understanding and applying basic principles of auto body repair and paint. Demonstrate the proper use of hand tools and power tools. Mix and apply plastic fillers, primer surfaces, sealers, and paint products. Perform minor maintenance and repair of all equipment in the auto body shop. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Explain work assignments to students. Maintain records and prepare reports. Make simple arithmetic calculations. Meet schedules and timelines. Plan and organize work. Train and provide work direction to others. Understand and follow oral and written directions. Work cooperatively with other. Work independently with very little direction. Training and Experience: Any combination of training and experience equivalent to: three years of tutoring, instructional, or work experience related to auto body repair and paint and satisfactory completion of sufficient specialized training in auto body repairs and paint to satisfactorily perform the assigned duties.WORKING CONDITIONS: Physical Requirements: Category II Environment: Usually involves an automotive garage setting;exposure to fumes from exhaust as well as paint, reducers, and catalysts.

Pay Information:
Range 19 ($3,214.57 - $5,131.18) per month based on the current AFT Classified Unit - Office Technical Salary Schedule

Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid: medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development. Initial Salary Placement, Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Classified Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt and may accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period will be applied to the employee entering this assignment.
