I.T. Engineer – Informa Investment Solutions | Boston, MA

 

Informa Investment Solutions is currently seeking an I.T. Engineer to join our team in Boston, MA. The IT Engineer will be part of a systems team responsible for the Infrastructure Solution to design, implementation, operation, and maintenance or the company’s server, network, storage, desktop systems IP Telephony and mobile devices. As well as meeting security standards. This position will be responsible for the local Boston executive level support along with escalated service desk support across all locations in coordination with the entire IT Team.

 

Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: systems engineering, capacity planning, monitoring systems, and implementations of standards. Systems include but are not limited to client telecom and data networks and telecom / data circuits, network servers and devices, storage area networks, application servers, database servers, printing and backup systems, as well as end user support. The I.T. Engineer will report to the Systems Team Lead and will work with local and remote team resources.

 

Job Duties

  • Provide quality support to VIP end users
  • Proficient with supporting Linux servers on an enterprise level
  • Proficient with Microsoft Active Directory
  • Proficient with VMware Virtualization
  • Support high level of system availability and project implementation both on prem and on AWS
  • Enforces policy and procedures to ensure the protection of company’s IT assets and the integrity, security and privacy if information entrusted to or maintained by the company.
  • Supports all information systems and networks so that they operate according to internal standards, external accrediting agency standards, regulatory agencies and legal requirements.
  • Assists in maintaining the systems architecture, defining standards and protocols for data exchange, communications, software and interconnection of IFI IT Department information systems
  • Ensure that security policies, standards, and specific compliance requirements are being adhered to
  • Participation in audits & security reviews, providing all required IT-related documentation and/or information
  • Working and communicating closely with peers
  • Assists in installation and cabling of workstations, servers, and network equipment.
  • Support local and remote offices
  • Continuous effort to improve upon network services, tasks, procedures and best practices
  • Maintain key and essential certifications
  • Monitor and respond to helpdesk and security related tickets
  • Perform performance analysis reviews on servers and client workstation
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining the day-to-day operational aspects of project tasks
  • Travel as needed to other locations
  • Responsible for performing duties and completing tasks as defined by team leads
  • Participates in the on-call rotation as well as off-hours work and support that may or may not be tied to that rotation

 

Skills & Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • Microsoft Active Directory user and computer object manipulation
  • VMware Virtualization
  • Linux OS
  • Microsoft Servers
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) Solutions architecting is a plus.
  • Experience with supporting Microsoft environments are required with a focus on workstations as well as server and active directory. MCSA preferred.
  • Familiarity with networking and security concepts, protocols and best practices (Cisco and Checkpoint)
  • Familiarity with Citrix Design & Administration, Storage technologies and concepts, Avaya PBX administration, backup and recovery.
  • Ability to respond, resolve, communicate, and document problems and issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
