As the Global Head of Outsourcing Strategy, will lead the development, implementation and delivery of a fully integrated outsourcing strategy that optimally meets the diverse and demanding scientific, technical and business needs of Translational Safety & Bioanalytical Sciences (TS&BA) that supports the Amgen Pipeline.

This Director-level position in TS&BA is site-independent and will have cross-site and cross-functional interactions with responsibilities including:
  • Ensuring the outsourcing strategy for TS&BA is integrated for Amgen's competitive advantage by optimally balancing the key metrics of time, cost and quality.
  • Managing the outsourcing budget for TS&BA.
  • Ensuring an optimally streamlined governance framework is established with our CRO partners so issues are rapidly identified, addressed and resolved and CRO partners are held accountable to meet Amgen needs.
  • Influencing key stakeholders in technical functions, Global Strategic Sourcing (GSS) and Finance and engaging them in the design and delivery of the outsourcing strategies.
  • Partnering with key stakeholders in GSS and TS&BA to lead and ensure the outsourcing strategy is delivered with optimal business performance while meeting the financial goals of Amgen.
  • Identifying metrics to measure success.
  • With the increasing diversity of the Amgen portfolio,
  • Partnering with key SMEs to address the increasing diversity of Amgen's portfolio and ensuring implementation of effective scouting mechanism that can rapidly identify the optimal CRO to meet the technical and timeline demands of programs.


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of drug development experience
OR
Master's degree and 8 years of drug development experience
OR
Bachelor's degree and 10 years of drug development experience
AND
4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 15 years of drug development experience with a strong track record of successful leadership in outsourced nonclinical safety and bioanalytical activities.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline combined with business-related education such as an MBA.
  • Extensive knowledge of the scientific and technical needs of TS&BA coupled with expertise in the business and operational aspects of CRO's.
  • Strong background in building and driving effective, diverse/cross-functional teams.
  • Proven track record in leading the development of innovative business strategies and critical evaluation/issue resolution.
  • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills along with the proven ability to form strong cohesive business partnerships internally and externally.
  • Strong external reputation and business network within the CRO community.
  • Knowledge of global regulations related to GLP and GCP.
