The Defense group supports the Department of Defense (DoD) mission to keep our homeland and its citizens safe. We provide solutions to improve the Nation's defense by providing software, systems engineering, IT, training and logistics and fleet management solutions.


Provide application support for the Army Learning Management System (ALMS). The ALMS is a web-based application that automates course scheduling, registration, training adminstration, testing, recordkeeping, reporting, course delivery, and other training support functions.

Performs as a functional SME for the ALMS. Provides subject matter expertise for Army Training policies, processes and procedures for one or more Army components (Active, Reserve, National Guard). Will be one of the SMEs that analyze the project requirements/capabilities in order to be able to give a better understanding to the team.

The SME provides the team an understanding of Army Training policies, processes and procedures throughout the Army within all the COMPOs. Required to document all information and deliver it by prescribed methods to the appropriate personnel. May be required to work with Army personnel to gain understanding of the Army requirements/capabilities and translate them to the needs of DoD Training Customer.

- Maintains currency in understanding of Army Training systems, policies, and procedures. Identifies emerging relevant technologies, and Army Training policies and procedures that may result in improvements to current processes and systems solutions.

- Within Army PM Forums, collaborates with customers to gather information, define complex work problems, and design system solutions and procedures to resolve problems and deliver required capabilities, requirements, and functionality.

- Participates in functional analysis to document complex process steps, tasks and their inter-relationships. This analysis and demonstrations, course of action (COA) analysis, and development and review of associated Program documentation.

- Participates in design and development of functional and technical solutions, and development and review of functional and technical documentation to provide SME input and review.

- Participates in all levels of testing to provide SME validation and recommendations for corrections or improvement.

- Develops and delivers oral presentations, and explains the most complex material in a clear fashion.

- Provides effective direction and guidance to less experienced staff.


- US citizen

- Hold a current Secret clearance or have the ability to obtain one.

- Must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in implementation of Army training policy and procedures, with a minimum of 5 years of that experience specialized in Distributed Learning.

- Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in translating training requirements at the enterprise level into a technical solution implementable in an automated training support system.

- The position is an IT Level III IAW AR 25-2.

- At a minimum, the Functional SME will have expert knowledge and experience in the following areas:

a. Interpretation of functional requirements and definition of processes to support them.

1. Functional requirements definition support

2. Assessment of solution approaches

3. Functional architecture documentation

b. Functional impacts of underlying commercial software product capabilities (Saba, etc.)

c. Identification and articulation of functional requirement-to-capability gaps

d. Demonstration of functional concepts and implementation approaches and recommendations

e. Support for ad hoc data and report requests

f. Development of guidance for specialized Help Desk services

g. Troubleshooting of complex training management problems
