The Jess and Mildred Fisher College of Science and Mathematics invites applications for a tenure-track, 10-month Assistant Professor position in the Department of Mathematics beginning August 2019.



PhD (or equivalent) in actuarial science, applied mathematics, statistics or mathematics. The department has identified the following areas of need: actuarial science & risk management, numerical analysis/PDEs, and statistics. Outstanding candidates in other mathematics fields matching faculty research will be given full consideration. Candidates who are members of the Society of Actuaries are preferred, and appropriate salary considerations will be given.



The standard instructional workload is seven to eight (7-8) course units. Research active faculty may request to replace one course unit with their research activity. Faculty will be assigned an instructional workload of six (6) course units per academic year for the first year. A strong commitment to excellence in teaching mathematics at all levels is essential. The successful candidate will establish a productive research program with an interest in research with undergraduate students, and show a willingness to pursue external funding opportunities.
