The High-Performance Computing (HPC) team at Target makes the impossible possible. Our products range from real-time data streaming to neural computing. We enable teams at Target to stream, filter, transform, and analyze high-bandwidth data in real-time, and also provide tools for data engineers and other team members to analyze and take action on their data.

What youll be doing:
As a Data Engineer on the High-Performance Computing team at Target, you serve as a specialist on the Product Engineering team that supports, designs and creates high performance computing solutions that serve an enterprise of over 350,000 team members and millions of customers.

You demonstrate:

  • Keen insights into the technical architecture and design to deliver robust and scalable software components.


  • Work on day to day production issues and resolve them. Perform application management, notify customers on maintenance notifications.
  • Interact with clients and onboard them with HPC applications both in trial and production environments.
  • Work on Grafana, Kibana, Shuttle IO and other logging related tools. Working knowledge of Docker, Service now, other CI/CD tools.
  • Automate trivial tasks and come up with innovative solutions for complex problems.
  • Use your technology acumen to provide input to assist with evaluation of new technologies and contribute to the design, lifecycle management.
  • Good team player, ability to learn new technologies and interact with teams across the world.

What you will learn:

Youll learn high performance computing techniques, and the value of real-time, lock-free data structures within products that power high performance computing. Youd also get exposure to the full-stack of software systems (down to the computer architecture level) while collaborating with our talented and collaborative engineers to tackle challenging problems.


  • BA/BS in Computer Science or commensurate experience in related field.
  • 3 plus years of software development experience.
  • Exceptional proficiency coding/programming in Rust, Java, C++, Python, Ruby, etc.
  • Experience on critical production applications.
  • Knowledge on Unix, Docker, Scripting languages, CI/CD toolchain.
  • Good understanding of RESTFUL APIs and Computer Architecture.
  • Ability to use code version tool such as Git.
  • A natural talent for design and attention to detail.
  • Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education.
