Position:
The College of Education invites applications for the position of Professor and Chairperson for the Department of Instructional Leadership and Professional Development beginning August 2018.

 

Qualifications:

PhD or EdD in Educational Leadership, Educational Policy, Curriculum Theory & Development, Professional Development, or a related field, and should be eligible for consideration as full professor. Demonstrated success as an educational leader at the college or university level is required and must encompass an exemplary record of teaching, service and scholarship. The ideal candidate should have leadership experience at school or district levels. Candidate must be committed to the university’s goal of inclusiveness and be committed to working with diverse populations.

 

Responsibilities:

Lead the 13 department faculty members and further develop the program as a major partner for advancing the quality of school leaders in the region. Teaching load to be determined upon hiring.

 

The Department:

The Department of Instructional Leadership and Professional Development (ILPD) is a department in the College of Education, with primary duties at the graduate level to develop educational leaders for Maryland schools and the surrounding region. Currently, Towson University leads Maryland public institutions in the productions of Administrator I (Assistant Principal) candidates to address the state’s identified leadership shortage and workforce need. In addition, ILPD graduate programs emphasize leadership skills and opportunities for those who would lead from the classroom as well as in traditional administrative positions.

 

Programs are delivered on the Towson University main campus and at regional centers throughout the state including cohorts in partnership with local school districts. Instruction and program delivery incorporate both traditional and online modalities that serve teachers across the state of Maryland. The ILPD program focuses on current trends in education like leading from the classroom, equity and school culture, cultural and linguistic diversity, STEM and more.
