Position

The Department of Elementary Education at Towson University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Lecturer in Writing and Writing Instruction. Candidates should be prepared to teach writing courses for undergraduate students in all majors and courses about writing instruction for preservice and in-service teachers.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

An earned graduate degree in Literacy, Education, English Composition or closely related field. Ability to teach courses about academic writing to students in multiple disciplines and courses about writing pedagogy to undergraduate teacher candidates and in-service teachers. Three years PreK-12 teaching experience. Commitment to collaborations with colleagues and with public schools

 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience and involvement with a local site of the National Writing Project

 

Responsibilities

Faculty will be assigned the standard instructional workload of eight course units (four courses per semester). Primary teaching responsibilities will be for on-campus undergraduate writing courses and for directing part-time faculty who teach similar courses. Fifteen percent of time will be assigned as Associate Director of Maryland Writing Project. Faculty must also contribute by participating in departmental and college meetings, and must engage in professional development activities to remain current regarding developments in the field.
