Job Details

The Business Analyst I is an integral member of the Reliance Technology Solutions (RTS) ERP team and is tasked with working with Business Stakeholders to gather, understand and document business requirements that address low complexity business problems. The Business Analyst I is responsible for documenting the current business process and the desired “to be” state. The Business Analyst I supports the planning/analysis, and testing phases of ERP projects specific to eSTELPLAN and related applications, working closely with business stakeholders and the entire project team to insure project success.

 

Essential Functions

 

Requirements Elicitation - Ability to identify a desired future state that addresses a business problem.

  • Effectively uses interviewing skills to elicit, identify, and document business requirements
  • Precisely and consistently captures business problems
  • Prioritize business requirements to identify the most critical needs

 

Requirements Management and Analysis - Ability to define, document and manage business requirements to the smallest set that will provide the biggest impact in advancing business objectives.

 

  • Accurately translates business requirements into functionality
  • Manage requirements to meet business expectations
  • Document the current business process and the desired “to be” state

 

Creating Compelling Business Case - Ability to measure and communicate proposed project benefits.

  • Clearly articulate the impact of business problems and benefits using business language

 

Providing Accurate Project Effort Estimates - Ability to quantify and meet individual and project phase level efforts.

  • Create, manage and meet accurate project effort estimates for assigned tasks
  • Adhere to RTS project methodology through project lifecycle

Designing for Usability - Ability to translate business requirements into business solutions for end-user adoption and productivity improvement.

 

  • Incorporate usability and user interface (UI) efficiencies into business solutions
  • Understand the business data needs as it relates to a potential solution
  • Effectively conveys the business preferences to the design teams

 

Business Requirements Testing and Validation - Managing traceability of business requirements through testing and validation process.

  • Ensure that business requirements have been met through testing and validation
  • Execute functional testing and validation of proposed solution
  • Develop effective use cases to test solution to business requirements
  • Document validation results and addresses any that were not as expected

 

User Acceptance Testing - Collaborates with stakeholder in testing for acceptance of end user business solution.

  • Build user acceptance test cases
  • Coordinate testing with end users
  • Provide clarification on basic questions of solution testing
  • Train end-users on business solution
  • Incorporate customer feedback into delivery of service to provide the best experience possible for the customer

Business Relationship Management - Ability to engage business sponsors and contribute to their targeted business outcomes.

  • Proactively resolves customer satisfaction issues
  • Clearly articulates the role of technology in terms easily understood by business constituencies

 

Supplemental Duties & Responsibilities

  • Pursues training and development opportunities; Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills
  • Assists personnel in other RTS departments to resolve technical and/or application issues
  • Become familiar with other areas of Product Management to assist with cross-functional projects
  • Support yearly Physical Inventory at STELPLAN/eSTELPLAN companies
  • Other support duties as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in a related field required
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently, with minimal supervision and as part of a team
  • Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • 1+ years of Metals Industry or Supply Chain experience required
  • 2+ years of Business Analysis experience required
  • 2+ years ERP systems experience required specifically with eSTELPLAN applications or work experience equivalent to 2+ years within the Reliance Family of companies in an ERP environment using similar industry business processes.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, at all levels including customers, vendors, peers, business stakeholders and management required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products required
  • Proficiency with some collaboration tools like SharePoint and Box
  • Capable of learning new systems and creating/implementing new system functionality
  • Understands basic internet and client/server architectures
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently and with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
