Job Summary

The University of Kentuckys Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering is recruiting a full-time, twelve-month, tenure-track position in bioenvironmental engineering, to be stationed in Lexington, KY. This tenure-track position will have an approximate start date of July 1, 2020, with a distribution of effort of approximately 70% research, 25% teaching, and 5% service. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an integrated, nationally recognized teaching and research program with a focus on sustainable water management in urban and suburban landscapes, in addition to agricultural landscapes.

The successful candidate is expected to: develop a nationally recognized research program evidenced by publications in leading peer-reviewed scholarly journals; and
attract external funding to support research efforts, including funding of graduate students; and demonstrate commitment and ability to work with teams of researchers on interdisciplinary problems; and recruit and direct MS and PhD graduate students, and develop an active Hatch project; and contribute to the multi-functional land-grant mission of the Department through outreach and engagement efforts with community stakeholders; and exhibit excellence in classroom instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Qualifications include: a Ph.D. in biosystems/agricultural engineering or a closely-related field with an emphasis on surface hydrology, hydraulics and/or water quality in urban and suburban environments; and have a P.E. or demonstrate the ability to qualify for a P.E. in Kentucky; and the ability to conduct high-level independent research and oversee graduate student research; and teaching effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; and demonstration of outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
