Job Summary

The University of Kentucky invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor with expertise in bioinformatics approaches to study neurodegenerative and/or vascular diseases in the aged brain. This key position will link extensive resources and expertise in aging and Alzheimers disease with strong programs in stroke, cardiovascular disease and translational neuroscience in place at the University of Kentucky. Research programs that encompass basic and/or clinical neuroscience research, with expertise in development of new bioinformatics analysis/annotation algorithms, and analysis and interpretation of data from a variety of reference sources, including large-scale high-throughput omics-level biomedical datasets and clinical informatics systems, may fit particularly well into our research team.

The position is in the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging, an internationally respected center of excellence where independent basic and clinical scientists work in a collaborative environment. The Center on Aging also includes the University of Kentucky Alzheimers Disease Center that provides outstanding resources that can support innovative research (e.g. longitudinally followed clinical cohorts, imaging, biomarkers, genetics, biosample specimens, and statistical support). The Sanders-Brown affiliated Commonwealth Center of Excellence in Stroke encompasses a comprehensive program of clinical stroke care and clinical research. Other closely affiliated programs include the Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy Center, the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute, and the Center for Clinical and Translational Science. There is strong potential to link multimodal data including neuroimaging, genetics and other data elements, in addition to an exceptionally strong team in place that are eager and collegial potential collaborators.

Highly motivated and talented individuals should submit, along with application, a complete CV, a brief statement describing their area of expertise and career goals, current and future research plans (upload under Cover Letter), and the names and contact information of at least three references when prompted in the application.
