Job Description

Based in Singapore, this position is integral to the expansion of our real time bond market coverage and principally covers the primary and secondary credit markets of South East Asia and Australasia.

The role involves proactively sourcing and publishing firsthand real-time information on international and domestic primary bond issues as well as contributing to opinionated and differentiating “state of the nation” commentary on the region’s credit markets, evolving trends, fund flows and broader industry development.

The successful candidate must be comfortable interacting on a daily basis with a deep network of financial industry contacts in both the sell side and buy side and utilising cutting edge tools to write and publish in an accurate, engaging and dependable manner. 

Applicants should be proactive and enthusiastic team players, keen to develop productive working relationships with members of the IGM team across all assets and regions in order to maximise collaboration.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Real-time coverage of Asia Pac bond markets, including USD plus regional/local currency issuance.
  • Pre- and post-launch analysis of major deals utilising timely and accurate market-derived information (rumours, price talk, book-build and relative pricing analysis versus comparables).
  • Ensuring a daily rea-time flow of information on new issues, secondary market performance and market themes that is covered in an efficient and timely manner across a suite of products
  • Exercising and applying sound judgement and pro-active analysis of what moves financial markets and why
  • Developing and maintaining a deep regional contact base, cultivating sources from both sell-side (bank) and buy-side (investor) communities.
  • Establishing and maintaining close contacts with issuers, investors, bankers and traders
  • Contributing to daily, weekly and special reports.
  • Providing cover for colleagues across multiple disciplines.

 

Required Skills
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of the credit markets
  • Relevant industry experience, through reporting, research or working in the Asian financial markets
  • A productive network of sources in the financial markets, both on the sell and buy side
  • Excellent written, analytical and verbal communication skills (English language)
  • Fast and accurate typing
  • An enquiring mind and a flexible attitude. Must be a team player.
  • Excellent telephone manner and the ability to foster relationships both internally and externally
  • Written and conversational knowledge of Asian languages will be of benefit
