Advisor (Part-Time)

Essential Job Functions

    \r\n
  • Recruit middle school and high school students from seven schools that the Talent Search program works with in Sheldon ISD and Galena Park ISD.
  • \r\n
  • Work with administration, counselors, and staff members in Galena Park ISD and Sheldon ISD by presenting program at various school events.
  • \r\n
  • Provide academic advising to Talent Search student participants.
  • \r\n
  • Provide information sessions and workshops to students and families in the areas of financial literacy, college and careers, goal setting, etc.
  • \r\n
  • Assist in planning events for fall, spring, and summer components of the Talent Search program.
  • \r\n
\r\n
Additional Job Functions
\r\n
    \r\n
  • Participate in some weekend workshops and/or events with Talent Search students and their families.
  • \r\n
  • Establish and maintain contact with program participants, to make sure they receive the services they need.
  • \r\n
  • Establish and maintain contact with families of participants, to make sure they receive the services they need.
  • \r\n
  • Help plan and/or create curriculum for student and parent events that take place all year long.
  • \r\n

Required Education/Experience
\r\n
    \r\n
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • \r\n
  • At least 2 years' experience in working with first generation, low income students in an educational setting.
  • \r\n

Preferred Education
\r\n
    \r\n
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education
  • \r\n
